Among the dozen are a number of the Black & Ambers’ most experienced players, including back row stalwart Jenkins, Matt O’Brien and Geraint O’Driscoll. The latter two are among the club’s all-time top 10 scorers and between them they have amassed more than 1600 points for the club.

The 32-year-old O’Driscoll has made 169 appearances for the club over the past eight seasons, and scored 748 points, while the 27-year-old O’Brien has notched 133 games in his seven season stint at Rodney Parade, scoring 873 points.

The leading try score in the past decade, Wales Sevens wing Elliot Frewen, has also signed on for another year. He picked up five tries in 15 games last season and will be looking to add to his 71 in 184 appearances to date as he enters his 11th season.

Scrum halves Luke Crane and Geraint Watkin, wings Jonny Morris and Harry Griffiths and centre Jack Wright have also all signed-up for next season, while up front there is further good news for head coach Ty Morris.

Stand out open side flanker Kyle Tayler, a superb scavenger, strong tackler and with a quick turn of pace, will be looking to reach 100 games for the Black & Ambers after turning out 89 times in the past five seasons, while fellow back rower Josh Skinner is another staying on for more.

Finally, lock Rhodri Jones, who has also played at Pontypridd and Pontypool, is staying put as he seeks to extend his third spell at the club. Now 30, he is a line-out specialist who has already made 68 appearances in Black & Amber.
