James Storey, Paul James, Steve Jones, Brett Sinkinson and Alfie Mocelutu all helped themselves to tries as the away side turned on the style.

For Ponty, Chris Wyatt scored a try converted by Neil Jenkins, marking the week in which he retired from international rugby with a personal haul of 11 points. Ponty’s highlight came in the last quarter with a superb 70-metre try from wing Richard Fusell which Jenkins converted

After the match Neath coach Lyn Jones praised his teams performance. “To come away after nearly scoring 50 points against a determined Ponty team is very pleasing,” he said.

“It will be an interesting end to the season now and we must keep the

pressure on Bridgend.”

“All we can do is go out and play the best we can. We will be fighting right to the end.”
