The visitors have a point to prove after being top of Division One East by eight points in the 2019/20 season before domestic rugby was derailed by COVID. And they had the bit between their teeth from the word go with Stuart Vokes, Robbie Torley, Jake Duffy, Jimmy Gahan, and Gavin McDonald all crossing for tries.
In Division One West Central, Bridgend Athletic comfortably beat Kenfig Kill 20-7 thanks in the main to 15 points from the boot of full back Robin Davies. Ieuan Evans scored a try and all Kenfig Hill could muster in return was a try from Chris Stenner.
Meanwhile, in Division One East, Barry were 29-22 winners over Ynysybwl in an enthralling contest. Einan Scott’s brace of tries, along with a second-half touchdown from Dave Provis, was enough to get Barry over the line.
The try of the game came when Ethan Dicks turned over the ball in Ynysybwl’s 22. It was quickly spun wide for Scott to run in unopposed from 55 metres out.
In Division One North, a last-gasp Gethin Andrews penalty gave Caernarfon a well-deserved 18-15 away victory over arch-rivals Llangefni. Greg Horsman and Andrew McMinnie were Llangefni’s try scorers, one of which was converted by Gethin Andrews who also scored a penalty. Two Guto Pierce penalties, an Iwan Evans try, and a pushover try by Caernarfon’s No 8 Sean Owen secured the win.
There was plenty of passion on show at Main Field, where Llangennech earned the west Wales bragging rights with a comfortable 26-6 win over Llanelli Wanderers in Division One West. Four tries flowed from Tom Neale (2), Jordan Saunders and Callum Jenkins, three of which were converted by Osian Evans.
