Having already seen off the challenge of another Two North side in Machynlleth, who were beaten 45-24 in round one, Newtown will be confident of making further progress.

Cup matches seem to suit Nantgaredig of Four West. After notching up a 75-13 victory over St David’s in round one they proved far too strong for Six West’s Tregaron and went through comfortably after a 42-13 win. They travel to another Four West side in Llanybydder in round three but in their previous meeting in the league this season, Nantgaredig were beaten 19-8 by the Teifisiders so it will be all to play for.

Cilfynydd top Four East and they have already beaten Llandaff 24-6 and Llanrumney 60-8 to reach this stage. They have been given a difficult tie away to Old Illtydians who are also going well in Four South East and after beating local rivals St Albans 35-7, the Cardiff-based side will be hoping to make Llanrumney Park count in their favour.

Taffs Well are experiencing a difficult league season in Four South East but a 38-8 success over Old Penarthians has handed them another home draw. This time they entertain a Cardiff Medicals side who won 48-10 at Ynysowen and always seem to do well in the Cup.

Tycroes are unbeaten in Four West and routed Neyland from the same division 55-19 at Penygarn Road in round two. They have been drawn away to Cefneithin of Five West who enjoyed a 46-5 round two victory over Pembroke Dock Quins.

Cardiff University always put on a good showing in the Cup and round two’s 26-7 victory over Five South Central’s Treherbert put them comfortably into the next round. There they will host Cambrian Welfare of Six South Central giving the Students every chance of making even further progress.

Glyncoch are unbeaten to date in Five South Central and after defeating Barry 27-14 in round two, now travel to fellow Five South Central side Hirwaun. Having already defeated them 37-3 earlier in the season, the Gladiators will be confident of Cup success
