The USA’s clash with Kingsley Jones’ Russia kicks-off at 6pm with the second match kicking off once the first is finished.

“It is something very new and north Wales are embracing it, pre-sales are going very well,” said RGC Head of rugby Rupert Moon.

“It’s a precursor to the Six Nations games we’ve got here with England and Ireland with the U20s. It bodes well that we’ve got a full international programme in north Wales. It’s going to be televised globally on CBS, NBC. I think there are 150 million people who are going to be watching Colwyn Bay and north Wales.”

Russian coach Jones is looking forward to taking on the USA in his home country. “Our Rugby World Cup qualification starts in earnest in the New Year, so while I’ve experimented with a large number of players during the past 12 months, we’re bringing our best available players to Wales to really try and make a mark,” he said.

“Everyone was disappointed with our defeat by six points by the USA at the Rugby World Cup, so there will be extra motivation when we face them.

“We have two tough Tests, with Canada the following Saturday, but we are determined to do well. It’s fantastic from a personal point of view to be playing some international games in Wales.

“We would love to play some home Tests in one of our rugby heartlands but the weather prevents that, so for me, playing in Wales is certainly the next best thing. I hope the people of north Wales will come out and support the team in red – Russia!
