Williams was a guest at the match and must have wished he was out on the pitch at The Gnoll as Neath dominated up front and provided their lively back division with plenty of opportunities to shine. Roberts bagged a first half hat-trick before going on to score two more after the break as Neath ended up with 10 tries in all.
The other home scorers were Josh Clark, Ryan Evans, Dai Griggs and Matthew Jenkins, who marked his debut with a brace. Outside half Steff Jenkins topped the 200 points mark for the season with his nine conversions.
With unbeaten Admiral Championship leaders Bargoed’s home clash with Trebanos postponed, it allowed Neath to move closer to them. Bargoed have to face Pontypool next weekend in one of the games of the season.
Pooler were 56-5 winners at Ystrad Rhondda, where they raced into a 28-0 interval lead. Garin Price, Mick Herbert, Pat Lewis and Mike Hale crossed in the first half for the visitors and Joel Mahoney scored twice after the break.
Bedwas completed their 11-match campaign with a 31-25 home win over Narberth to hold onto second place. It took a try two minutes from time by Dafydd Thomas and a nerveless conversion from Dion McIntosh to edge it for Bedwas.
Cardiff Met director of rugby was brought down to earth three days after watching his senior side reach the BUCS Super Rugby semi-finals with an epic win over Cardiff University as his students were beaten 19-14 at Measteg Quins. Despite tries from Oliver Gibbon and Ethan Morgan, Met were unable to end an otherwise big week on a high.
Tom Lampard marked his record equalling 412th game for Cross Keys with a try as the home side beat Glamorgan Wanderers 34-18 at Pandy Park. Two tries from Aaron Dowse saw the Keys take an early lead, but the Wanderers battled back with tries of their own from Jamie Murray and Eddie Drake.
Cross Keys went in at half time with a five-point lead thanks to a Jamie Rogers try just before the break, which Osian Evans improved. The second half saw Alex Lloyd kick two penalties for the visitors before further home tries from Connah Vaughan and Lampard saw the Keys over the line.
