McIntosh steers Brecon to another big win

Dion McIntosh had a field day as he scored 20 points in Brecon’s 45-21 win over Blaenavon at Parc de Pugh in Admiral Division 1 East.

McIntosh was the chief architect of the bonus point win that included seven tries – two from the outside half himself, two more from prop Lewis Smout and one each from Aneurin James, Josh Millichap and Chris Davies. McIntosh also kicked five conversions 

Monmouth led Bedlinog 26-7 after a brilliant first-half that included four tries. Logan Woskett, Lewis Ryan, Dean Bartlett and Morgan Jess all crossed to earn the home side a bonus-point by the break. 

Harry Johnson added three conversions and the visitors only managed a converted try. Then came the second half fightback as the Foxes nailed three more tries to lead 29-26. 

With time running out, Monmouth had a late penalty that they chose to kick to the corner instead at goal to try to claim a draw. Bedlinog kept their line intact and went to the top of the table as a result. 

Outside half Dylan Edwards scored a hat-trick of tries to steer Brynmawr to a 71-7 victory at Risca and there were two each for Stuart Vokes and Johnny Paynter in Newbridge’s 36-16 home win over Pontypool United. 

Ammanford remain top of Division 1 West Central thanks to a bonus-point win at home against Birchgrove. Fullback Elis Lewis helped himself to a hat-trick for the home side and Carwyn Lewis got the other try. 

Outside half Ryan Williams bagged 17 points with the boot, while former Aberavon back row man Lee Purnell scored twice for the visitors. Scott Gibson claimed their other try and Mathew Edwards kicked 10 points. 

Skewen picked up a 19-17 win at Dunvant, with Top Lapham and Callum Grimes among their three try scorers, while Bonymaen made it two from two with a 31-20 win at Glynneath. 

Felinfoel stayed a point ahead at the top of Division 1 West with a 26-10 bonus point win at home against Penclawdd, while in the North, reigning champions Llandudno were sensationally beaten 38-22 at home by Nant Conwy.
