Only one point separates the two teams after they both notched four wins in five games to date. Coleg Sir Gar are the only team to beat them, having triumphed 26-25 at CAVC and beaten Glantaf 28-12 in the last round.
Table-topping Sir Gar ran in four tries on home soil to bag another bonus-point, with Cian Jones, Jac Pritchard, Harry Thomas and Steff Evans crossing the Glantaf line. Sion Davies and Ben Geraghty replied for the visitors, who also had a Harry Wilde conversion.
Reigning champions CAVC recovered from their one-point reverse at home against Sir Gar by heading north to beat Coleg Llandrillo 22-3 thanks to tries from Blessing Kilonda, Dylan Lewis and Lucas De La Rua. Rhys Mottram added two conversions and a penalty to take his kicking tally up to 55 points this season, while Caio Parry kicked a penalty for the home side.
Wales U18 cap De La Rua and Kilonda now have five tries each in the tournament, with Whitchurch HS centre Jack Spittle and Glantaf centre Dewi Thomas still leading the way with six tries each.
Sir Gar head to Cross Keys’ Pandy Park to face the 2019 champions Coleg Gwent in what is likely to be another tough battle for them. The Gwent side were ruthless in running in 11 tries in their last outing against Pembrokeshire College, where they won 67-26.
Callum Chivers crossed twice and there were further tries from Josh Gay, Lloyd Evans, Buster Bodkin, Riah Jones, Tate Shaw, Jack Hale, Corey Gilfillan, Declan Dawkins and Cian Davies. Harry Ford added six conversions.
To their credit, Pembrokeshire bagged their first point of the campaign as they conjured up four tries of their own. Iestyn Comey got two of them and Ioan Jones and Daien Davies got the others, with Roan Smith (2) and Gruff Edwards adding conversions.
Bridgend College will chase their first win when they host Gower College, who have won their last three games and beat Whitchurch HS 14-0 at St Helen’s in their last outing, while Coleg Y Cymoedd will hope to stay on the coat-tails of Sir Gar at the top of the table at Llandrillo.
