They scored four tries to clinch a bonus-point that moved them a point clear at the top, a try by prop Dylan Phillips secure the extra point right at the death. Other tries came from Matthew Lemon, Ells Smith and Owain Thomas.
Dunvant’s 46-0 win at bottom of the table Brynamman moved them to within three points of the top, with veteran wing Tom Davies grabbing three of the eight tries, while Waunarlwydd beat visiting Glynneath 20-13.
In Division 1 East, Newbridge extended their unbeaten run to six games as they put Penallta to the sword, winning 52-0. It took their lead over similarly unbeaten Brecon to eight points, although the mid Wales side have a game in hand.
Having seen their nearest rivals, Brecon, fail to get a bonus point in their 22-8 win at Nelson on Friday night – Ryan Price and Carl Blacker with two got their tries – Newbridge set out to make a statement that they are the team to beat in their league.
Home outside half Simon Veale helped himself to a hat-trick of tries and they notched six in all against a below par Penallta side. The rest of the points came from the boot of Robbie Turley.
In Division 1 East Central, St Peter’s were beaten for the first time this season as they tumbled to a 32-10 defeat at Mountain Ash. That lifted the home side to within four points of the top of the table, with Rumney in second also four behind but with a game in hand.
Treorchy’s 19-17 home win over St Josephs’ keeps them very much in the title race, while Barry are still unbeaten after four outings.
In Division 1 West, the top of the table clash between unbeaten league leaders Llangennech and second place Crymych was postponed, as was third placed Newcastle Emlyn’s game at Felinfoel.
Aberystwyth had no trouble in moving up to fifth with an 11 try, 73-7 triumph at Pembroke. Full back Dylan Benjamin opened the scoring for the visitors and there were two tries apiece from flanker Iestyn Evans, centre Carwyn Evans and wing Ben Jones.
Kerijama Fasuluku, Matthew Jacobs, Chris Jones and Charles Thomas added the other tries and outside half Steff Thomas nailed nine conversions. Pembroke bagged three tries from Aaron Williams, Tommy John and Luke Alderwick.
Nant Conwy made it six wins out of six in Division 1 North as they stretched their lead at the top to six points with a 30-7 victory at Bethesda. They picked up a bonus point, while second placed Ruthin could only pick up four points from their 16-12 home win over previously unbeaten Caernarfon.
Nathan Jones celebrated his 100th appearance for Ruthin by kicking two late penalties to win the game for the home side after the Coffis had led 12-10 going into the final 10 minutes. The visitors struck first with a 10th minute try from flanker Bedwr Jones before Deian Williams pulled back three points with a penalty.
There was no change on the scoreboard in the third quarter, but then Ruthin flanker Owain Jones pounced to score a try that Jones improved to make it 10-5. Caernarfon hit back with a try from Rhyddian Williams and the successful conversion made it 12-10 to the visitors.
Jones then had the final say with two penalties that made it a special day for him.
