Ebbw Vale marksman limping towards century mark

Lloyd looks certain to be the first player to crash through the barrier, having accumulated 97 points in his campaign to date, but he’ll feel the last few games have dragged on a bit as the points have dried up somewhat.

There’s a new name appearing among the try scorers with Wales U20 winger Oli Andrew in the mix.

Andrew took his Indigo Premiership try tally for the season to six as he helped himself to a hat-trick as Newport continued their march up the table, easing to a six try, 40-24 win over the Ironmen at The Wern.

Cardiff’s Dewi Cross still heads the try scoring charts with 10 with Andrew joining Joe Gage (Aberavon), Morgan Richards (Ebbw Vale) and Aaron Warren (Llandovery) in second place with six apiece.

There’s still plenty of competitive action between the back rows in the league. Aberavon flanker Joe Tomalin-Reeves is a key part of the Wizards game plan in defence. He has made the most choke tackle attempts (11) and has had more counter ruck attempts (18) than any other player.

Carmarthen Quins’ Thomas Curry becomes the first centurion of the season, racking up 102 tackles so far. Pontypridd’s Kristian Parker and RGC’s Ethan Fackrell are his nearest challengers with 87 tackles next to their name.

Fackrell is continuing his rich vein of form, having claimed more turnovers (21) than anyone else and leading the way with jackal attempts (72). He’s also top of the pile when it comes to ‘post tackle’ involvements. And for good measure, he’s also made five ball rip attempts along with Cardiff second row Sean Moore.
