The Archers were the only side who could improve their position heading into the New Year in a league in which Neath still hold a two-point lead over unbeaten Pontypool.
Cardiff Met scored six tries to claim an excellent victory over third placed Cross Keys, although the students had to withstand a late comeback before emerging with an impressive 39-26 bonus point victory.
Alex Terry and Horace Hopper opened the scoring for Met, before Cross Keys hit back when Tom Lampard pushed his way over the line.
Gus Patterson grabbed a third try for the home side before Osian Evans added the extras, with Cardiff Met leading 17-7. Keys searched for a reply and Louis Tovey got the visitors back into the game, scoring off the back of a strong maul.
Patterson scored his second try of the afternoon early into the second half. Evans added the extras, before adding another penalty.
The Archers continued their impressive start when Josh Carrington scored from a cracking 40 metre run, before Ardall Yallop added a further try for the hosts. Connah Vaughan and Aaron Dowse scored two late tries for the visitors, snatching a try bonus point, but it wasn’t enough, as Cardiff Met held on to a 39-26 victory at Cyncoed.
Elsewhere, Division One East was hit badly by the weather, with Penallta’s game against Blaenavon being the only game that survived, as the home side came out 43-15 winners.
Division 1 East Central’s Rumney, who were unbeaten in five league outings since they went down 12-5 to St Peter’s, made it six from six with a 19-10 win against Barry. The visitors opened the scoring with a penalty try, before Rumney No8 Charlie Barrett forced his way over the line to level the scores at 7-7.
Barry’s Kyle Barrors slotted a comfortable penalty to retake the lead. Barrett was once again on the scoreboard for the hosts however, a late Harry Jarrett try and two conversions from Alex Manton saw Rumney seal the win and go level on points with leaders St Peters.
In Division 1 North, no games were completed this weekend, leaving leaders Nant Conwy at the top of the league while all games in Division 1 West Central fell foul of the weather. League leaders Bonymaen head into the new year with a two-point lead, ahead of Dunvant.
It was the same story In Division 1 West, as no teams were able to make headway before Christmas leaving Crymych to head into the break at the top, while Newcastle Emlyn sit just three points behind with a game in hand.
