Head coach Steve Law has players leading the way in over half of the categories we are focussing on this week. Winger Dewi Cross has been making waves out wide for the Blue and Blacks, and another breakaway try in the last round has seen his try tally increase to 14 – double that of his nearest challenger in Ebbw Vale’s Morgan Richards.
It’s a double celebration for Cross this week, as he has also made twice as many line-breaks as any other player in the league. He leads the way with 12, six ahead of his teammate Joe Goodchild and Pontypridd’s Nikola Matawalu and Ebbw Vale’s Carrick McDonough.
Talismanic Morgan Allen heads the carries section, having trucked up the ball on 107 occasions although Aberavon’s Andrew Waite is close behind with 102.
Nathan Hudd joins Cross as a two-time leader in this week’s charts, but by the smallest of margins. He leads the ‘post tackle’ involvement category with 79, just one ahead of RGC tyro Ethan Fackrell.
Fackrell is putting pressure on the competition in the turnovers section as well, securing 22, but Hudd has kept him at bay for at least another week by claiming four more for a total of 26.
Former Wales U20 second row Sean Moore has gone about his business in a quietly influential way this campaign. He has been a tower of strength in the line-out but is proving a force elsewhere as well. He leads the way in the ‘ball rip attempts’ with nine, to be ahead of the usual suspects in Fackrell, Hudd and Aberavon’s Joe Tomalin-Reeves.
