Lloyd Bradley of Bryncethin kicks a penalty

Bryncethin secretary Andrew Jones paid tribute to long-standing lock forward Mark Thomas after they finally broke their duck at the Principality Stadium by beating Nantyglo 19-15 in the final of the WRU National Division Four Cup.

“He put in a massive shift. Mark is 40 and has been with the club for 22 years. This was the fifth time he’s been here but the first he’s won,” said Jones.

The goal-kicking accuracy of Lloyd Bradley, who racked up 14 points through a conversion and four penalties, proved the difference with Nantyglo missing three attempts.

“There’s no secret to kicking. Conditions were perfect but I did miss one when I kicked the ground before the ball,” said Bradley.

“We’re happy – I can’t fault it. We had lost a few times here so to finally win at the stadium was just outstanding. Winning is a different feeling to losing.

“We couldn’t really get our game going until the second half. We haven’t lost all season but have been winning games without playing well. But winning ugly is better than not winning.

“We haven’t lost a league game in three years. The only competitive match we have lost was against Llanharan in last year’s final. This has made up for that.”
