Bumper Turn Out At Stadium Fun Day!

Bumper Turn Out At Stadium Fun Day!

Over 8,000 die hard Welsh football fans gathered at Wales‘s Millennium Stadium to witness Beckham’s England take on Speed’s Wales side in the 2006 World Cup Qualifier.

With a substantial number of avid fans unable to get their hands on the elusive big match tickets, the national ground decided to open its doors to the public and display the game on the largest inflatable screen the country has ever seen.

The Stadium more than doubled its expected attendance and beat the record 3,600 fans that turned out for the screening of Russia versus Wales last year.

With Rupert Moon as the master of ceremonies for the day, fans taking part in kicking competitions on the famous pitch and two Harvey’s leather armchairs showing off the ‘best seats in the house’ from the touchline, much fun was had by one and all.

“The atmosphere emulated that of a home international,” said Millennium Stadium manager Paul Sergeant.

Proud renditions of “Men of Harlech” and “Delilah” matched the passion felt when Mark Hughes’ men play on their home ground.

“Obviously the on pitch result didn’t go as we would have liked, but the bumper turn out means this is definitely an event which we would like to repeat for future matches.”
