First half tries from Gus Patterson and Olly Wiseman helped the Archers into a 17-0 half time lead at Cyncoed, with Tom Howlett converting both tries and sending over a penalty.
The hosts ran in four more tries in the second half, including two for Willmott with Ioan Evans and Tom Weekley also on the scoresheet.
Outside half Howlett kicked another conversion and a penalty, while his replacement Ross McKay also chipped in with a couple of conversions.
The win sees Cardiff Met jump four places up into fifth place in the table, also leapfrogging Newbridge. It also made it three on the bounce for Met – who go to Merthyr next.
For Newbridge, this a first defeat in four league matches; Luke Morgan got their try which was converted by Eamonn Rees. They will now look to bounce back at Bonymaen.
Cardiff Met against Newbridge was the only Premiership fixture played at the weekend. When the full league programme resumes on Saturday, the standout fixture is the top of the table clash at the Gnoll between Neath and leaders Pontypridd.
Just a point separates the sides heading into the fixture. Both having won seven of their first eight games while Neath have won seven on the spin.
The fixture marks the first in charge as Ponty’s new interim head coach for Kristian Parker, having taken over from club legend Chris Dicomidis – who has left to join Cardiff Rugby as team manager.
Parker will be supported by the current coaching team of Iestyn Harris, Garyn Smith, Rob Jones, team manager Stuart Rix and strength and conditioning coach Nathan Evans.
The other games on Saturday see Bargoed looking to bounce back from two straight losses at bottom side Newcastle Emlyn.
Cross Keys – buoyed by a win at Bargoed last time out – welcome Llangennech to Pandy Park, while Brecon entertain Narberth.
Meanwhile the Premiership clash between Narberth and Merthyr that was postponed on 16 November has been rearranged for Saturday 8 February kicking off at 12 midday. The original fixture was postponed at the Otters’ request, owing to a lack of tighthead cover.
The semi-finals of the WRU Premiership Cup will see Pontypridd going up against Newbridge, with Cross Keys locking horns with Merthyr in the other semi. Dates and neutral venues are yet to be confirmed.
