Bridgend Athletic reached the semi-finals of the Division 1 Cup thanks to a 18-13 home win over Abercynon.
The home side raced into a 15-0 lead thanks to tries from Cameron Thomas and Rhydian Greenhall and a penalty and conversion from the boot of Rhys Williams.
But Abercynon hit back before the break to cut the gap to five points with a try from Josh Williams and a conversion and penalty from Dean Gunter. Gunter then made it a two-point game with a second penalty in the second half before Rhys Williams added a second to make the game safe.
Skewen had to dig deep to beat Division 1 East leaders Abertillery, who won the Division 3 Cup in 2023, before coming up with a 36-29 victory. There were two tries for Jordan Adderley, the second winning the game after Abertillery BG had led 29-26.
Tony Buseli added a fourth conversion and then kicked a second penalty to make the game safe. Other home tries came from Morgan Kemys, Ethan Piles and Rory Morgan-Williams.
Caernarfon moved into the last four with a 28-26 home win over St Joseph’s. There were 16 points from the boot of Aled Jones, while Liam Leung, Tom Devine and Jac Petch-Jones.
Tyler Payne was the toast of Hendy as he kicked all 12 points to steer his side to a 12-5 home win over Rhydyfelin.
