KELLY JONES JOINS TSUNAMI RELIEF CARDIFF

The Stereophonics lead singer will return from promotional duties to contribute a solo set to the charity event where the line-up already boasts Badly Drawn Boy, Charlotte Church, Craig David, Eric Clapton with Jools Holland and The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Embrace, Feeder, Heather Small, Aled Jones and Katherine Jenkins, Keane, Lemar, The Manic Street Preachers and Snow Patrol.

Kelly has travelled in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, where a lot of the destruction has taken place – that part of the world is very close to his heart.

“I have done a lot of writing in those parts,” he said. “It’s a beautiful place with a lot of magic. I was there only last January. It is shocking how much destruction has occurred and it is important to do all we can.”

Paul Sergeant, Millennium Stadium General Manager said, “The fact that Kelly is able to take part in the concert is excellent news for the event. We can also announce that Pino Palladino, one of the world’s most renowned session bass players will be joining Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra during the course of the day.”

Palladino hails from Cardiff and has performed with the likes of The Who, Rod Stewart, Tears for Fears, Tina
Turner and Phil Collins.

A new website has been set up by the Millennium Stadium which will provide information on every aspect of the event from artistes to transport, parking and general concert details.
