“The shirts are really the only momento of note that the boys get to keep from matches, and to lose the ones from an historic win over England is gutting for Steve and Shanks,” said Thomas. “It would be great if they could be found and handed back, I’m sure true Wales fans wouldn’t begrudge the players the chance to hold onto a memory like that.
“We’re sure that if anyone has found the shirts, whilst they are obviously a nice momento for a fan, they will realise that they really belong with the player.
“The players worked hard to win the right to wear the shirts in the first place and no-one can doubt the effort that went into the victory, so hopefully whoever has them will do the right thing and send them back to us at team head-quarters in the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel, Hensol.
“We are not putting up a reward as such, but whoever it is can rest assured we will be extremely grateful as a squad and I’m sure we can come up with something to compensate for the effort that goes into returning them.”
The signifying mark which will identify the missing shirts is the embroidered relevant cap number, match insignia “Wales v England” and date on the sleeve.
