WWRU egg-on others to join Britain’s Biggest Breakfast
The idea is that people pay to have fun and attend a healthy breakfast party – at any time of the day – at home, at work, at school or anywhere that tickles their fancy.
Leading the way by munching on a healthy breakfast are the women from the Women’s Welsh Rugby team at their training session who decided to get in the Britain’s Biggest Breakfast mood early – in the hope of inspiring others to organise their own breakfast parties.
Jilly Holroyd, Manager of Rugby for Women and Girls says “We’re passionate supporters of Cancer Research UK carrying the charity’s logo on our new strip. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we urge people to come together to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.”
“Britain’s Biggest Breakfast is a great way for people to come together and prove what good eggs they are by filling up a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to ‘toast’ their health!”
Cancer Research UK estimates that unhealthy diets result in around 50,000 people in the UK being diagnosed with cancer each year. And diet is responsible for 8 out 10 cases of bowel cancer. People with diets high in fibre reduce their risk of developing bowel cancer by 40 per cent. There’s also evidence to suggest that people who eat a balanced breakfast tend to weigh less. So what better way shape up than by joining in the fun of Cancer Research UK’s Britain’s Biggest Breakfast?
The initiative is being supported by TV a host of celebrity chefs, including Ainsley Harriott and Ken Hom.
Ainsley, who presents TV’s Ready Steady Cook, says: “Britain’s Biggest Breakfast 2005 is a fantastic way to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK and a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy breakfast with their friends and family. It’s such an important meal and with so many tasty foods available, what better way to kick-start your day than with a breakfast party?”
Cancer Research UK Community Fundraiser for South Wales, Dawn Williams, says: “Now in its seventh year, Britain’s Biggest Breakfast is an important annual event for Cancer Research UK and we are aiming to make 2005’s campaign the most successful yet.
“We need the local community to help us achieve our fundraising target, so anyone interested in holding a party should call the fundraising office on 029 2022 4386 – today to receive a breakfast fundraising pack crammed full of original ideas.”
