Despite having flanker Iwan Hopkins and scrum half Gareth James in a bad road accident en route to Builth Wells, Bonymaen still managed a late kick off and a 11-9 win, courtesy of a try by ace lock Gavin Evans.
Glamorgan Wanderers won the huge promotion battle by 13-6 over Llangennech as South African centre Felice Coetzee’s smart try decided it and Beddau, despite being without the injured Brett Davey, gained a good 18-5 win over Whitland with tries by Huw Williams, Carl Thomas and Rob Downes, plus a Steve Robinson penalty.
Fleur de Lys won a relegation battle by 30-17 at Bridgend Athletic with Brett Green contributing ten points and Blackwood gained a good 16-10 win at Tonmawr with a Jason Rogers try and eleven points from Jeremy Lloyd.
Narberth moved up with a 20-8 win over UWIC, but the students had Wales Under-21 hooker Rhys James red-carded after just nine minutes. The Otters ran in three tries from Barry Davies, Gareth James and Jason Jennings.
DIVISION TWO
East leaders Ystrad Rhondda pulled away from the pack with a 24-15 win over Llantwit Fardre including a brace of tries by Gavin Owen and Newport Saracens fell 27-22 at Tredegar.
Abercynon had four tries by Neil Woodward and 19 points by Matt Turner in a 74-26 win over bottom club Risca and big advances came from Merthyr, the team with the highest aggregate tries, and Rumney. Merthyr beat Treherbert by 32-17 and Rumney went away to defeat Llantrisant’s ‘Black Army’ by 27-13.
In the West, leaders Waunarlwydd hung on to win 18-10 at Cwmavon and Cwmllynfell were hard pushed to win 27-21 at Mumbles. Moving up were Dunvant, 53-22 winners over Nantymoel, and Kidwelly, who won through by 13-5 at Corus.
DIVISION THREE
Unbeaten clubs Bargoed in the East and Rhydyfelin in the South-East remained so as Bargoed defeated Llanishen 20-13 and Rhydyfelin won 24-9 at Barry, though they are not leaders as Mountain Ash beat Pentyrch 38-26 and having played one game more than Rhydyflein, lead on try-count.
North Walians Ruthin are still in third place after player-coach john Tudor helped inspire them to a 19-6 success aginst Nelson.
Bargoed’s nerarest rivals Pill Harriers did DEFEAT Senghenydd, NOT as reported by a telephone prankster, who gave in the wrong result from the Pill clubhouse.
Loughor kept their grip on the West with a 1-15 win over Haverfordwest, but surprise results saw Llanelli Wanderers winning 14-7 at Lampeter and Llandeilo thrashing Hendy 36-5.
Maesteg Quins held on to the South-West lead after a 37-8 win over Ystalyfera and Bryncoch’s slump continued as they lost 28-13 at second-placed Seven Siters.
DIVISION FOUR
Aberdare upset leaders Fairwater with a 15-5 win in the South-East to now share the lead, while Penarth chase hard with Hemi Taylor inspiring them to a 41-6 win at Rhigos.
One of the biggest shocks came in the South-West as Tonna fell 29-10 at home to Heol y Cyw, leaving Resolven clear at the top and they won 55-7 over bottom club Pyle.
There was no change in the North even though leaders Llangefni were without a game. Mold held on to second after defeating Colwyn Bay 19-16.
Amman United won the big clash in the West as they toppled nearest rivals by an astonishing 53-7 scoreline and in the East the top two met at Trinant, but visitors Pontllanfraith pulled away at the top after a narrow 20-17 victory.
DIVISION FIVE
Nantyglo are the first dvisional winners in Wales, confirming it with a 29-6 win at Caldicot – their 18th straight success in Five East. St Alban’s stay second after a late penalty try helped beat Abertillery BG by 18-8.
In the North, Bala, Bethesda and Bro Ffestiniog all won away and Bangor made it four with a win at Welshpool. The biggest clash in the South-East saw Cilfynydd hold off Porth 17-14, while South Wales Police, Penallta and Cefn Coed all won again.
West leaders Pembroke won 25-5 at bottom club Llanybydder and New Dock Stars kept up the chase by beating a game Furnace side 33-22. In the South-West, Abercrave gained a crushing 87-7 success at Pontardawe and Birchgrove smashed BP Llandarcy 60-5 away.
