RECORD WIN FOR TYLY LADIES

Club graphic

It was a record win, record amount of tries, record amount of conversions and a personal record for non-stop try scorer Non Evans with 7 tries. Altogether they enjoyed a 14 try romp, 12 of which were converted in a one sided 94-0 victory.

The platform for this victory was laid down by some superb forward play, who dominated proceedings from start to finish. Nails Edwards constantly plucking line out ball from the air at will and the front row trio of Laura and Amy Kelland and Captain Evo tying their opposite numbers up in knots, with the Waunarlwydd front row regularly popping their heads up from the scrum like jack in the boxes. This must have brought a sense of pride to the Tyly coaches as the Waunarlwydd girls were somewhat bigger than the mobile Tyly eight. This was evident when evergreen second row Rachel Gibbins ran almost 60 meters to keep up with flying full back Non Evans to receive a try scoring pass and crash over under the posts to claim her first try in a Tyly shirt.

Most of the game was played in the Waunarlwydd half and Tyly were scoring at regular intervals, all but two of their tries coming from their vastly improving and speedy backs. From virtually every re-start Rhianydd Sandford gathered and set up ball for the brilliant half back pairing of Rhian Adams and Stacey Sanders. Everytime the backs were supplied with ball they seemed to be on the attack and constantly finding holes in the Waunarlwydd defence the size of Watford gap. This was mainly down to the consistent Stacey Sanders who this season has put in some commanding displays and proving to all that she really is one of the finest outside halves in the woman’s game in Wales.

Some half time changes by Waunarlwydd seemed to make no difference to the pattern of the game and Tylorstown were for ever keeping the scoreboard workers busy as well as water girl Amy Thompson. The try scores in this penultimate match of the season were Non Evans with 7, Wendy “snake hips” Gibbins 3, Sophie Kelland 2 and one each for Jamie Kift and Rachel Gibbins.

Rumours have it that head coach Mark “Sharky” Kelland managed a smile at the end of the game, but was still disappointed that the girls failed to reach the 100 point barrier. As easy a win as this was, a big step up is needed this coming weekend when the Tylorstown ladies entertain table topping Llandaff North. A big crowd is expected to cheer on this entertaining and committed Tylorstown outfit.
