Glamorgan Wanderers travel to the Brewery Field to face a Bridgend team riding high after a 23-18 home win over Swansea. Although the Ravens had skipper Mike Powell dismissed after only 15 minutes, Gareth David kicked 13 points and centre Chris Tossell and No. 8 Andrew Williams crossed to see off the All Whites. The Wanderers suffered a harsh introduction to Premiership life, going down 31-18 to Newport on Saturday, with Gareth Chapman grabbing a brace. But the newly promoted side will once again be the underdogs against a Bridgend outfit who looked good for last week’s result.
Ebbw Vale travel to Stradey Park on the back of a 49-9 hammering of Cardiff and will fully expect to come away with a result over a young Scarlets side. Left wing Simon Hunt ran in a first half hat-trick and Jason Williams notched up 17 points in the opening day victory and the Steelmen should prove too strong for Max Howells’ Llanelli.
Aberavon will play host to Cardiff hoping to continue where they left off on Saturday after an away win at Carmarthen Quins. Jamie Davies kicked 22 points for the Wizards and will be integral again as they hope to record a second win in as many games against a Cardiff side stinging from an opening day defeat to Ebbw Vale.
Elsewhere, Carmarthen Quins meet Pontypool with both sides still looking for their first victory of the new season.
The Quins lost 47-18 to Aberavon on Saturday whilst the Poolers lost at home to Simon King’s Pontypridd. Premier new-boys Maesteg travel to Bedwas hoping to erase the memories of an opening day defeat to Llandovery. And the Drovers will hope for a similar performance away to a Cross Keys side who beat Bedwas 25-6 last week. Newport will host Swansea and will will fully expect to triumph over an All Whites side that struggled against 14-men Bridgend on Saturday.
