Jones banned for three weeks
Having considered the referee’s report of the sending off and viewing film of the incident, the Sub-Committee determined the case against the player for stamping was proved. However, the Sub-Committee accepted that the player did not make contact with the opposition player’s head, but did make contact with that player’s upper arm and body.
The Sub-Committee determined that the offence was at the lower end of the published IRB scale of sanctions and the player will be banned for four (4) weeks, reduced to three (3) weeks because of the player’s remorse for his actions. Mr Jones will be eligible to resume playing on Tuesday 20th February 2006.
