It is the start of the rugby season in Wales this week, we focus on the Principality Premiership, the Magners League Awards, Welsh Rugby Writers awards and Women’s Rugby World Cup.

In the Principality Welsh Rugby Union podcast we hear from the WRU’s head of Rugby Performance and Development Joe Lydon on the changes to the Principality Premiership this season, Principality’s Colin Lewis explains the importance of the sponsorship, while Jason Hyatt, the coach of new boys Tonmawr, explains their excitement at kicking off the season. It was the inaugural Magners League Awards dinner at the Millennium Stadium. WRU group chief executive Roger Lewis welcomed the event – and added some revelations – while we also speak to coach of the year Paul Turner of the Dragons and Ken Owens, who scored the Try of the Year for the Scarlets. James Hook talks about receiving the Welsh Rugby Writers player of the year award, while Kristian Phillips was the Principality Premiership player of the year. Finally Wales Women’s coach Jason Lewis talks about their frustrating World Cup campaign.
