‘Broadening the appeal and modifying the traditional’

‘Game On’ is a less formalised format of the 15 a side game, whereby two teams agree on an an alternative set of rules.

The aim is to play 15 a side, however ‘Game On’ provides a set of alternative options to select and use by mutual agreement between sides and officials.

The ‘Game On’ option is recommended for single fixtures, tournaments, and round robin fixtures.

Communication
The team wishing to play alternative rules HAS to inform their opponents as soon as possible. The home team is responsible for informing the match officials.

Numbers
Teams must be equal but can play with 10,11,12,13,14, or 15 a side.

Game Duration
A minimum of 40 minutes, but can be split in to equal halves, quarters, or thirds. For example 3 x 20 minutes, or 4 x 20 minutes.

Scrums
Contested or uncontested. When uncontested, no pushing but their can be a strike contest and the scrum half must pass from the base of the scrum.

Lineouts
Contested or uncontested. When uncontested the ball must be passed to the scrum half.

Kicking
Permitted in open play. Penalties in own half may be kicked to touch. Kicks ar goal are permitted.
