Thankyou Thursday
So many of our rugby clubs have been going above and beyond during the pandemic – Nicola Garbett and her fellow helpers from Treharris (above) distributed meals to those who were struggling while Clwb Rygbi Cymry Caerdydd kept Wales connected during the lockdown by donating 100 Amazon Fire tablets from the proceeds of their £12,000 raised from a virtual run around Wales.
Ystradgynlais & Dinbych
Ystradgynlais came up with a series on their facebook page called Lockdown Live Show at Six, attracting the likes of Sean Fitzpatrick, Zinzan Brooke and Shane Williams which garnered over 330,000 views on their social media platforms. It proved such a hit, new sponsorship rolled in while in north Wales, Dinbych opened their doors to become the heart of the community on and off the field.
Tonyrefail & Carmerthen Athletic
Lewis Crabbe and Ann Richards from Tonyrefail explain how a Santa Fun Run raised donations and cash to fill a transit van and camper van full of produce to provide those in poverty with christmas hampers while Wynne Jones from Carmarthen Athletic explains how a smooth operation was provided by the club as they offered their premises for innoculations.
Brecon
Brecon chairman, Paul Amphlett who took up shepherding after retiring as a paramedic, explains how the club provided the NHS with £20,000 after sponsoring his ewes which grazed on the rugby pitch.
