The Welsh Rugby Union this afternoon unveiled the new national kit – and sprung a major surprise when Gavin Henson was back in a Welsh shirt for the first time since 2009.

Welsh Rugby Union chief executive, Roger Lewis, explained the bold move, saying: “So why Gavin Henson? Everyone wants to wear this jersey. Gavin certainly wants to wear this jersey, this jersey is the stuff of dreams and Gavin is dreaming about putting this jersey back on one day.

“You may have noticed he hasn’t got his boots on, we are looking forward, as was said in today’s papers, for Gavin to put his boots back on and play rugby once again.”

Mr Lewis added: “This week we will announce our Welsh Rugby Union annual results on Friday and they are very encouraging indeed and it is because of our new relationship with Under Armour and our new relationship developing with Admiral that we are able to generate the monies that we do to invest back into the game in Wales.

“Today we unveil our new jersey , everyone wants to wear this jersey. This jersey is the stuff of dreams, people dream about wearing it.”
