Wales Under 20s got their Six Nations campaign going with a 20-12 victory over Scotland at Cardiff Arms Park.

Tries for Scarlets and Llanelli prop Simon Gardiner and Blues and Pontypridd scrum half Rhys Downes, and eight points from the boot of Ospreys outside half Matthew Jarvis helped Wales bounce back after a heavy defeat to England on the opening round of matches.

WRU TV followed the Wales Under 20 players and coaches throughout the day, including the presentation of match jerseys by Ieuan Evans before the game, match action and reaction, and the cap presentation at the Arms Park after the game.

Phil Davies’ side return to the Arms Park for their clash with Philippe Sella’s France on Friday 26 February at 3.30pm – the perfect appetiser to the RBS 6 Nations encounter next door at the Millennium Stadium at 8pm.

Wales Under 20 assistant coach Lee Jarvis said, “It was important to get a first win under our belts. We created some great chances, which is certainly a move in the right direction, but we still have room for improvement. We created two try scoring opportunities which we didn’t take and you have to take all your chances at this level.

“We have been training hard for a while now and the team started to click against Scotland but we have time to work on some areas of our game before the French match next week.

“Playing at 3.30 in the afternoon before the senior game will be the perfect appetiser to the main event. Hopefully we will get a good win to set up the rest of the weekend.”
