Uncapped flanker Sioned Harries and Elen Evans are the eye catching selections in Wales’s side which takes on Australia tomorrow in their opening pool clash of the 2010 Rugby Women’s World Cup in Guildford.

Harries, from Aberaeron, has made rapid strides this season and impressed hugely in the inaugural Regional Championship where she figured pominently for the Scarlets.

Evans, normally a centre, finds herself on the wing after a two year absence at the highest level but has no fears as the Wallaroos look to emulate their Sevens team who are the current world champions in the shorter version of the game.

“it’s great to be back and I’m really looking ahead to the challenge,” she said. “The girls have worked hard and training has gone well so we are optimistic of doing well.”
