Scarlets Back To Business

Scarlets Back To Business

It’s business as usual for Gareth Jenkin’s Tiger taming Scarlets on Friday as Llanelli put their impressive Heineken Cup victory over English Champions Leicester behind them to travel to Newport in a top-of-the-table
Welsh/Scottish League clash.

And director of rugby Jenkins has warned the Black & Ambers that Llanelli
experienced no Heineken hangover this week as they learned of their
quarter-final draw against Bath and that Newport will under-estimate them
this weekend at their Peril.

“We were all on a high last Saturday after the victory over Leicester, but
the talk in the dressing room on Monday morning, from myself and the senior
players, was about professional rugby,” said Jenkins.

“We are back to the business of the Welsh/Scottish league at Rodney Parade
on Friday night, that is our stock in trade and in the professional era it’s
a game every bit as important as the Heineken Cup quarter final next week.

“Of course we have one eye on our trip to Bath, but all our video analysis
this week is of Newport because we don’t want to be going to the Rec on the back of a loss.

“We are in the business of winning rugby games and the Black and Ambers will be taken very seriously at the weekend.”

Llanelli will select from a full squad on Friday morning after a number of
fitness tests to key players.

“It may be that some of the unsung heroes at the club get a chance to shine on Friday night,” added Jenkins

“But we have spent a lot of money assembling a good squad of players at
Stradey Park and if Newport are expecting to face a weakened Llanelli at the weekend they will be underestimating us.”
