Davey Inspires Pontypridd

Davey Inspires Pontypridd

The kicking wizard insists they must show the same spirit displayed in previous cup games this season if they are to clinch victory at the Kassam
Stadium, Oxford (Saturday 5.30pm).
Now Davey, who booted Ponty into the Welsh Cup final two weeks ago, has
has called on the valley commandos to battle their way past the Powergen cup holders.
“We must show out valley’s mentality – noone likes us we don’t care,” said
the Ponty full-back.
“There will be no respect and we can’t wait for the match to begin.
“There is no doubt that this is the biggest game most of us will have
played in and it would be a massive fillip for everyone if we could reach
the final.”
Davey has been at the heart of Ponty’s rise in cup fortunes this season.
His lethal left foot sent Saracens crashing out of the tournament at the
last stage and now he is gunning for London Irish.
And the wizard has also warned the game is poised to set a new record.
“It is going to be a very quick game and I wouldn’t be surprised if it sets a new record for the amount of time the ball will be in play.
“We are in within a stone’s throw of reaching a European final and we need
no more motivation than that.
“We have got a few things up our sleeve which we hope will come off.
“We genuinely believe we can win this game but are under no illusions over
how big the challenge is.”
