Feast Of Schools Rugby

Feast Of Schools Rugby

101 schools set out on the road to the finals when the Leagues started on September 15 and few will argue some 500 matches later, that the best teams are in Friday’s showpiece end of season games.
The Division 3 final between Cwmcarn and Bishop Vaughan will kick off at 11.45 am. The Division Three play offs were as closely fought as the scorelines suggest, none more so than in the semi final at Stradey Park where Bishop Vaughan RCS got a last minute try to pip Tenby school Greenhill CS 23-15. Cwmcarn School who had two international props in Ross Davies and Geraint Reynolds were too strong up front for Morriston CS at Nantyglo, grinding out a 17-3 win.
The Division 2 Final will follow at 1.15pm. Olchfa CS, Swansea favourites after their impressive 52-14 semi final win over Tasker Milward School, Haverfordwest, will face either Bro Myrddin, Carmarthen or St Cyres, Penarth who are still to play their match on Wednesday May 1.
The climax of the festival of schools rugby will kick off at 2.45pm with the hotly contested Division 1 Final with current Champions Llandovery College defending their title against last season’s finalists Brynteg Comprehensive School.
Last Saturday’s First Division semi finals were held at Waterton Cross between Division 1A champions Llandovery College and Pool 1B runners up Neath College and Pool 1B winners Brynteg CS against 1A runners up New College.
Brynteg beat New College 25-0 and Llandovery College edged home 6-3 against Neath College to make today’s final a rerun of last year’s showdown at the Brewery Field when Llandovery won 35-7.
