Cwmbran Under 16s & Torfaen Tigers Presentation Night

Cwmbran RFC hosted the presentation last Saturday for the successful Cwmbran Young Ladies under 16 team and the Torfaen Tigers Ladies team.

Special honoured guests were on hand, Dale burn Wales A international presented some awards, and the assembly was particularly pleased to welcome retiring Lady international Pip Minto, a great servant of the game with some thirty caps for Wales.

Richard Hodges, Director of Rugby for women & girls in Wales with the WWRU, also honoured the girls by presenting those 11 who have achieved representative honours this season.

The under 16 awards were:-
Club person of the season – Aimee Denning
Most improved player – Joint winners twins Rachel Bond and Elinor Bond the under 16s half back pairing.
The most promising player went to Branwen Scrivens, a young lady with a bright rugby future in front of her.
Topping the bill with the Players player was Steph Turnbull.

The under 16s were also honoured for winning the Crawley tournament.

Meanwhile the top senior ladies were
Tigers most improved – Rachael (wiggy) Harrison
most promising Amy Evans
and the players player was hard working flanker Sharon Kirby.

Richard Hodges then presented the ladies with their representative honours in the following categories.
East Wales under 15 caps
Amy Baker, Elinor Bond, Jenna Gregg, Hayley Baldwin, Tanya Davies, Megan York, & Branwen Scrivens.

Wales under 16 caps
Amy Baker, Jenna Gregg, Tanya Davies, Branwen Scrivens.

Wales under 19 caps.
Amy Evans, Lucy Pike.

Special presentations were made to the guests along with one to Mr Tony Bond for his services as home referee all season.

The presentation concluded with a Male voice choir rendition of “Mae hen wlad fy nhadau”, something that the girls in the room have the potential to here in the future as they represent their country!
