Gordon Pritchard, the former Wales Rugby League international back has quit as the club’s director of rugby.

This followed the resignations of chairman Tony Mayes, former Wales scrum half and the club’s head coach Terry Holmes and another former cap Tony Faulkner, who had coached the forwards.

Pritchard said: “I have been at Caerphilly for over two years and tried every trick in the book – and some not in it – to make us better within the resources available. I have now run out of ideas.

It leaves another former Wales star Mark Ring as club coach and Pritchard has suggested that the money saved by his departure should go towards a new forwards coach.
