Fiji got their five-match tour of the UK off to a flying start with a big win over Pontypool.

The South Sea Island side turned on the second half style to send a warning to the watching Steve Hansen.

And Ponytpool extended their lead when former Newport full-back James Rowles intercepted a stray Fiji pass and raced 50 metres to touch down under the posts.

But the bubble burst in the second half when as the Fijian’s bought on many of their test side.

Wing Isaac Mow scored a hat-tick of tries – two in the second period – and Api Naevo weighed in with two scores after the interval to make the secure victory for the visitors.
