The draw for the venues of the semi-finals of the 2002 / 2003 Celtic League, to be played on the first weekend of January, 2003, has been made. And it shows that Wales will host the first Celtic League semi-final held outside of Ireland.

Both last years semi-finals were held at Lansdowne Road in Dublin.

But this season, with Pontypridd and Neath meeting in the Celtic League quarter-final, the draw determined that the home side for the semi final would come from this match.

The draw was made by Bill Watson, Chairman of the Celtic League, Philip Browne, Director of the Celtic League, and Selwyn Walters of the Welsh Rugby Union.

CELTIC LEAGUE 2002 / 2003 SEMI-FINAL DRAW

* The winners of the Pontypridd v Neath quarter-final will have home advantage in the semi-finals against the winner of the Edinburgh Rugby v Cardiff quarter-final

* The winners of the Munster v Connacht quarter-final will have home advantage in the semi-finals against the winner of the Glasgow Rugby v Ulster quarter-final

The semi-finals will be played at the home grounds of either Munster or Connacht and either Pontypridd or Neath on 3 / 4 January, 2003
