Jonny Wilkinson

Debut 4/4/98 v Ireland

Club Newcastle

Position Fly-Half

Date of Birth 25/5/79

5ft 10in, 13st 10lb

The most reliable goal kicker on the international circuit has more qualities than just a consistent left boot. He is a superb tackler and an evasive runner.

But it is his composure under pressure that has made him one of the hottest properties in World rugby, and his ability to control a game has helped England to the top-spot in the Zurich World Rankings.

Wilkinson’s 20 points in England‘s Six Nations opener against France made him the fastest player to reach 600 points in Test rugby – beating Andrew Mehrtens’ record by one game.

At just 23, Wilkinson is set to break every record in the book.

Winner of the “International Player of the Year Award” in 2002, Wilkinson has won the respect of his peers.

World record points scorer Neil Jenkins recently described him as: “The best No.10 in the World.”

Wilkinson plays his club rugby with Newcastle, and since his return to the side after being sidelined with a shoulder injury the Falcons have been a transformed side, hauling themselves off the foot of the Zurich Premiership.
