England gave a first class demonstration of power, pace and precision at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday night. With both teams having scored encouraging victories in round one of Six Nations fixtures, over 1000 people turned up to support the Welsh girls.

England took an early lead through Worcester flyer Nicky Crawford before impressive full back Chris Diver broke through out wide for number two.

Wales threw everything at the English and made several line breaks but it wasn’t until Claire Flowers scored midway through the second half that the English line was breached.

With Shelley Rae calling the tune at fly-half for England they continued to rack up the points to emphasis the gulf in class between the two teams.

With England having beaten France 57-0 and Wales beating Spain 34-0 last weekend, second place is in the championship is still a possibility. However, on this performance it will be a long time before England are knocked off the top spot.

Wales U19 5 – 3 Canada U19

Wales kicked off their USA tour with a fantastic victory against their Canadian counterparts. Trailing 3-0 for much of the game, Llandaff North’s Jess Kidley was the heroine of the hour with the winning score in a tight match.

Wales U19 13 – 3 USA U19

Wales return home with a 100% record following their second victory in Miami. To have played two of the top U19 sides in the world and not concede a try shows how well the team has developed under coaches Mahoney and Lawrence.
