Victories over Canada, Tonga and Italy before scoring four tries against New Zealand saw Wales reach the World Cup quarter-finals Down Under.

And a display that saw them outscore finalists England three tries to one has also helped life Wales back into the top eight sides in the world.

Wales had slumped to a low of 10th – behind Samoa – following their run of 11 consecutive defeats earlier this year.

England and Australia, who go head to head in Saturday’s World Cup Final, have been elevated to first and second respectively ahead of the All Blacks.

Ireland have slipped from third to sixth despite also making the quarter-finals.

1 England (92.13 points); 2 Australia (88.44); 3 New Zealand (88.17); 4 France (84.66)
5 South Africa (81.23); 6 Ireland (80.53); 7 Argentina (78.02); 8 Wales (76.92); 9 Scotland (76.36); 10 Samoa (73.46).
