Joining the Rodney Parade outfit are Wales fly-half Ceri Sweeney, fellow international scrum-half Gareth Cooper, centre Jon Bryant, wing Gareth Bryant and back row forward Richard Bryan. The Dragons have also secured the signature of former Tigers hooker James Richards.

The Dragons squad is taking shape for the 2004/5 season, following an impressive first term that saw the Gwent Region finish in third place in the Celtic League and register two wins in a tricky pool in the Heineken Cup.

Speaking at their unveiling, Richard Bryan commented, “We are all really excited about joining the Dragons and being parto this exciting squad that is being assembled. There have been a lot of changes in personnel but everyone is feeling positive and excited about the challenges that lie ahead.

“We realize we will have to fight for our places and this is a challenge we will all relish. The set up at the club is excellent and we have seen the camaraderie and team spirit that exists and we are all looking forward to being part of this,” he added.

“The acquisition of these quality players represents the ambition this club holds,” said Dragnios chief executive Andy Marinos.

“We want to launch an assault on Europe this season and be competitive. The signing of these players will go someway to achieve these ambitions and will strengthen our squad considerably.”

The players will join up with the Dragons squad when pre season training begins on June 28
