Despite the home side losing 17-20 to London Wasps, the Scarlets supreme said: “It was very enjoyable. The fans turned up in numbers attracted by the stars on display and there was some good rugby, they got value for money. I think it was a success and should now become a permanent fixture in the rugby calendar

“Obviously I am disappointed that we missed out on the trophy: if it hadn’t been for some poor decision making in the last five minutes we could have won.”

“They blew us away in the first half and we were lucky still to be in it at half time. But we came back and had the ascendancy for the first half hour of the second half before we self-destructed, We blew it with some poor decision making in the set piece, on our own ball and they’re a quality outfit and punished us,.” He told the official Scarlets website, www.sacrlets.co.uk

The game was a tough pre-season test and Jenkins reckons his side will have learnt a lot from facting the best team in Europe last season.

“They achieved their supremacy by being able to recycle the ball time and again, they were getting to seventh, eighth, ninth phase regularly, we were only getting to fourth or fifth. We have to work on that.”
