Lewis had limped of in the Blues pre season loss to Leicester Tigers (13-31) last weekend, but has been advised he can resume training in time for the Blues’ opening match against Leinster Lions this weekend.
Lewis found himself connecting with a stray elbow in the early stages of the match and left the field. Swelling in the jaw area meant the front row forward was unable to move his mouth and a break was feared.
However, x-rays revealed no such damage, news that came as welcome relief for Blues boss Dai Young.
“It is a relief to know nothing is seriously wrong,” Young told the official Blues website, www.cardiffblues.com.
“He has been advised to avoid training for a couple of days but he should be alright by the time we select the side for Leinster. With our other Gareth Williams reporting no ill-effects after his first match since last January we should be picking from strength ahead of our trip to Dublin.”
