OSPREYS END YEAR ON A HIGH

The Ospreys end the year on a high with their bonus point victory over the Scarlets on Boxing Day ensuring that they see in the New Year as league leaders. Shane Williams got two of his side’s five tries at the Gnoll and with Munster only able to record a 3-0 victory over Connacht – thanks to a Paul Burke penalty – the Neath Swansea side are a point clear of the Irish province.

Elsewhere Hugo Southwell helped Edinburgh upset the form book with an 18-12 win over Glasgow at Murrayfield. The Scottish test player scored one try and made his side’s second for Craig Joiner. Kevin Morgan was the hero for the Dragons, collecting two tries as they edged the Blues 25-21, while in the final game Ulster were edged out by Leinster in Dublin. The win leaves Leinster six points behind Munster in third place.
