AUCTION TO ADD TO TSUNAMI RELIEF CARDIFF FIGURE

Club graphic

The latest figure includes donations from the dedicated Tsunami Relief Cardiff donation line, which was open until last night. It also allows for final costs and income generated by the concert itself.

Millennium Stadium General Manager Paul Sergeant said: “This is not the final figure – an auction will be launched tomorrow morning at 9.00am on www.millenniumstadium.com/tsunamirelief and www.bbc.co.uk/tsunamireliefcardiff to auction a large mural of the Tsunami Relief Cardiff logo which is singed by the majority of artists who performed on the weekend. There is also a series of 18 individual portraits of the artists which are all signed. There have also been calls to auction my colourful jumper, so that will also be open to bidders.

“These items, particularly the paintings, are unique and we hope they will generate several thousands of pounds for the fund. Working with the BBC we hope to receive bids from around the world.

“The Welsh Rugby Union will be holding a bucket collection at the Wales v England Six Nations match on 05 February with all proceeds going to the tsunami relief fund. Over the coming weeks we will also be examining the possibility of producing a DVD, CD and book of the event, with all proceeds going to the fund.

“We have  had an incredible response from all over the world since Saturday, particularly from the music industry. I want to pay tribute to everyone involved because it took the biggest possible example of team effort in order to make it happen.”

The Tsunami Relief Cardiff donation line is now closed. For any future donations please now call the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal number: 0870 60 60 9000.
