PRINCIPALITY PREMIERSHIP NEWS

The league leaders were unbeaten after seven games in the Principality Building Society Premiership and were looking to become the first side to win at Newport for more than two years. But Daniel Griffiths was the hero for the Black and Ambers with a 17-point haul including a conversion of Matthew Thomas’s try in the 22-10 win. Geraint John scored Bridgend’s try.

That allowed the chasing pack to wipe out the Ravens three-point lead at the top of the table.

Neath hammered Pontypool 31-5 with promising prop Cai Griffiths scoring the last of their four tries.

Dafydd Lockyear and Wayne Evans both crossed twice at Pontypridd hit Carmarthen Quins for six in their 40-20 win at Sardis Road.

Aberavon’s Jamie Davies kicked 18 points in their emphatic 43-15 win over Ebbw Vale.

Llanelli edged out rivals Cardiff 15-7 at Stradey Park.
