DRAGONS FRONT UP TO TOURNAMENT FAVOURTIES

Wyatt scored two tries as the Dragons picked up an unlikely bonus point in Castres last weekend when they came within a score of pulling off a major shock. But he believes they will face an even bigger task at Rodney Parade tomorrow against Guinness Premiership leaders Sale after their power-based win over Munster.

“On paper they have got everything you need to stake a strong claim at winning the European title,” said Wyatt. “They’ve got quality throughout with big abrasive forwards and fast backs. They can compete with anyone in Europe and I’m sure they know that.”

However the Dragons inflicted a surprise first defeat of the season on Leicester Tigers in their last game at Rodney Parade. Now they are eyeing another English scalp. Wyatt added: “We’ve got belief in ourselves that we can match the top sides. We beat Leicester and could easily have won in France. Our problem has been consistency.

“The bonus point at Castres could be important but I just hope we don’t live to regret not winning the game outright.”

Coach Paul Turner has seen his options grow this week with the return to fitness of prop Adam Black, flanker Jamie Ringer and young wing Richard Fussell.

Dragons: Morgan; Wyatt, Tuipulotu, Sweeney, Breeze; Warlow, Cooper; Maddocks, Jones, Thomas, Gough, Charteris, Hall, Forster (capt), Owen
