LUCY’S MARATHON TASK
Flying the flag for Wales in a red dragon adorned kit, 4 times capped Lucy completed the 26.2 miles in 4 hours and 47 minutes. Accompanied by her boyfriend, Alex Peach, Lucy was running to raise funds for Children’s Ward, Withybush General Hospital and Cardiac Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. They have currently raised £800, a sum that they anticipate will reach £1,000 in the next few weeks.
Reflecting on the experience, Haverfordwest’s Lucy said “It was not until about the 18 or 20 mile mark that my legs really started to feel it. They seemed to turn into concrete blocks! We were delighted to make it around in under 5 hours, especially given poor Alex was suffering from a terrible cold. I’m now really fit for the season and looking forward to using my stamina on the rugby field.”
Lucy is a key member of Fishguard & Goodwick Ladies RFC. Any ladies aged 16 and over who are interested in giving women’s rugby a try are more than welcome to come along to training at Fishguard & Goodwick RFC on a Monday evening at 6.30pm – the ability to run a marathon is by no means needed!
