OSPREYS HOPE FOR HENSON PARTICIPATION

Henson was included in the 22 as coach Lyn Jones builds towards the Heineken Cup match against Leicester Tigers the following weekend, but has been currently been withdrawn. Regional Rugby Manager Derwyn Jones said: “Gavin suffered a slight back strain whilst weight training yesterday. He has not been involved in our rugby sessions for 48 hours but he is receiving intensive physiotherapy on what is a minor injury.

“We intend to give him as much time as possible to prove his fitness and we remain hopeful that he will play some part in Sunday’s fixture.”

“Due to the demands of the autumn internationals not many of our Wales players will feature this weekend,” Jones added. “However, we are taking the game seriously and this is reflected in the strength of the squad we have chosen. Bristol have performed exceptionally well in the Guinness Premiership this year and we will be looking to continue the form we showed in beating Ulster last time out.

“They have a big pack of forwards and have plenty of experience in their backline, but this game will be about overselves and maintaining the performance levels we achieved in Ulster. It will also mark the start of the buildup to what will be the biggest game of the season at Welford Road next weekend.”
