REEBOK REGIONAL U18

And with more than 50 players away on international duty, tonight’s games between the Blues and Scarlets at Llanharan and Ospreys and Dragons at Waterton Cross, will provide an opportunity for a whole host of fringe squad members to impress.
The Blues entertain the Scarlets at the Dairy Field with regional high performance manager Gafyn Cooper delighted that no fewer than 12 new faces will get a run out for the region.
“We have 14 players away with the U18 and U19, so this gives a chance to those players who missed out on a lace in the squad at the beginning of the season.”
In the other game, the Ospreys make wholesale alterations too for their game against the Dragons at the South Wales Police RFC. Dai Arthur RHPD for the Ospreys said: “We have been delighted with the progress of the players so far this season and although this game is outside of the WRU Reebok Regional Championship, it is every bit as important in terms of developing young players.”
Ron Schottle RHPD for the Dragons said: “To give an opportunity to a new group of platers is crucial. Many of them will be available for this section next season, so it’s great to be in a position to blood them this season.”
Darryl Hill, RHPD for the Scarlets said: “The WRU Reebok Regional Championship is all about development, but there is an obvious edge to the competition because of the need to qualify for the final. However, these games will concentrate solely on looking at players ahesad of next season’s squad selection.”
