The Llanelli club were struggling at the wrong end of the table before securing a workmanlike 16-14 win at Athletic that saw them leapfrog Kidwelly, who lost to Lougher, and taken them six points clear of the relegation fight. The result, however, saw Bridgend Athletic lose more ground on the leaders though table-toppers Dunvant were made to work hard for their 14-10 win at Maesteg Quins.

Trimsaran took top place in Division Three West with an emphatic 48-12 victory over bottom club Hendy. They move a point ahead of long-time leaders Penclawd who have four games in hand after their match against Pembroke Dock Quins was postponed. Llanelli Wanderers missed the chance to move into third when they shared the spoils 13-13 with relegation-threatened Tenby.

Division Three South-West also has new leaders after Tonna took advantage of Nantyfyllon’s postponed fixture by beating Aberavon Quins 20-12 to move two points clear at the top. At the other end of the table, Resolven secured a vital win at Bryncoch. New Dock Stars won a nail-biter at Fishguard, 27-25, in Division Four West. Neyland ran out comfortable winners at Llandybie in the division’s only other tie to survive the weather.

Morriston went down to a rare defeat in Division Four South-West, losing 35-14 to Briton Ferry, though the six-point clash at the bottom of the table between Glais and Abercrave was called off. Division Five West strugglers St Clears earned a crucial three points with their 18-0 win over Pontyates while BP Llandarcy maintained a five-point lead in Division Five South-West with a handsome win over Crynant.
